SSAL Dyer Profile: WALK Collection

June 09, 2024 2 min read

As we gear up for the Sock Along 2024, we're thrilled to announce that WALK Collection is one of our featured dyers this year! We had the pleasure of catching up with Cathrin from WALK to dive into what inspires her stunning colourways and her thoughts on sock knitting. Here's a peek into our delightful conversation:

1. What inspires your colour creation? Creating colour concepts is always a new creative process for us. Often there is an impulse in everyday life, in nature, while we are strolling through a museum, or watching a movie. From that initial spark, the process unfolds organically, guiding us through a myriad of possibilities.

2. Are you a sock knitter? If so, what do you love about sock knitting? Oh, absolutely! I love knitting socks, especially the beginning. Honestly, I usually change things up a bit with the second sock and do a bit of a mix & match with the pattern to keep it interesting. That's kind of a quirk of mine.

3. What stitches or techniques are you hoping to see from this year’s SSAL? I would love to see intarsia or stripes!

4. If you could knit a pair of socks for anyone, who would it be? Because it has become my routine to knit two different socks most of the time, it would take a confident, bold person who doesn't care about wearing two different socks and cherishes the love put into hand knit socks.

We can't wait to see the beautiful yarns from WALK Collection in this year's Color Popportunity Socks. Cathrin's unique approach to color and creativity is sure to make this SSAL extra special. Get ready to cast on and join us for a sock knitting journey like no other!
