Birdstreet Yarn combines sophistication with a touch of playfulness. Married couple Jon and Clare often drawn inspiration for their colourways from unexpected sources—like rusty metal or a can of air freshener in their bathroom! 

Birdstreet’s yarns are like a well-curated wardrobe—grown-up, sophisticated, and quietly confident, with more than a hint of fun. Their dyeing techniques, particularly their variegated and speckled styles, are a testament to their experience and creativity. Favourite colourways like "Pebbles On A Beach" and "Doyouthinkhesaurus?" showcase their skill, while "Stella Bella" holds a special place in their hearts, named after their beloved late border collie.

Captured beautifully by their son, a freelance photographer, the photos of Birdstreet’s dye studio offer a glimpse into the busy yet fulfilling life of a dyer. Starting work early, they focus on tonals first before moving on to their signature variegated and speckled yarns. The day is punctuated by a coffee break at 10:30 AM (complete with a music quiz), before diving back into the world of dyeing, admin, and all things Birdstreet.
